Numeracy 10 Assessment – (Usually in April)
This assessment is a graduation requirement for all students and is not tied to a specific Math
course. Instead, it evaluates your numeracy skills that have been developed over the course of your 10-year education experience. It is expected that all students complete this assessment prior to
graduation.
The majority of the assessment will consist of 24 computer-scored questions and typed responses. You
will be using Chromebooks or computer terminals to complete the assessment. You will not be
permitted to use your own devices for the assessments. Unique to this assessment, there are two
written-response questions on paper. These questions are based on tasks the student will have
completed earlier in the assessment. Students will need to present detailed solutions to a problem using all the numeracy processes and support their thinking with explanations and assumptions.

Literacy 12 Assessment – (Usually in November)
This Literacy 12 assessment will be scored on a 4-point scale and that value will be recorded on student transcripts. Both grade 10 assessments and the Literacy 12 assessment must be completed for
graduation. Our teaching staff has been looking to build students’ numeracy and literacy skills across all courses your child is enrolled in here at Delta Secondary. The new curricular competencies encourage teachers to explore means of developing both skills in all subject areas.
A link to the Provincial website is provided below, where you can explore the assessment in more detail
and even see examples of the types of questions that could be asked.

school. Students can monitor the outcome of this assessment on the provincial transcript website. They
can also ensure that their grade 10 assessments are complete here too. Link to the website here
