Theatre

DSS Theatre Company and DSS Stagecraft have evolved over the years involving hundreds of students, as well as staff and parents. Students and staff commit to multiple hours per week rehearsing for a larger event, which is performed near the end of the school year.

Musical theatre pushes students outside of their comfort zone – it can foster new friendships, bring students out of their shells, and even help students discover a hidden talent that they never knew they had. Working as an ensemble can also develop a team-building element, and trust in oneself, others, and the process. Furthermore, learning to cope with nerves and take risks helps build resilience and grit. Overcoming challenges builds growth mindset, and these skills lead to greater adaptability later on in life.

We would like to invite your child’s participation in this course as an opportunity to benefit from not only tremendous exposure to dance, music and acting, but also boost their confidence, problem solving abilities, and creativity.

In order to sign up for the course, please select it during the course selection period. Courses will often be scheduled after school in our “X” block.

We hope to see your child there! For sneak peeks, scan the QR code to see the Theatre Company’s Instagram!

Delta Secondary Theatre Company and Stagecraft are proud to present LITTLE WOMEN!

DSS Theatre Company proudly presents an adaptation of Louisa May Alcott’s novel for the stage,   written by Kate Hamill.

Jo March doesn’t want to be like other girls! Jo is ambitious, rough around the edges, headstrong, and yearns for a future she can’t yet articulate. As her country is torn apart by civil war, Jo and her sisters struggle with what it means to grow up. Restrictive gender roles, political beliefs, poverty, and even love itself threatens to break family ties, as the March sisters try to reconcile their identities with society’s demands. How do you stay true to yourself when the world wants you to become a perfect little woman?
