Take Our Kids to Work

The Delta School District Recognizes the value of Take Our Kids to Work Day on November 1, 2017 and we encourage all students to participate in the event.  It is organized voluntarily between and by parents (or another family member/family friend of the student) and their employers.  Students who do not participate in the day will still be expected to attend their classes on that day and will receive an in-lieu activity to allow students to demonstrate the learning outcomes in Careers Education 9 that are supported by the event:  1) Describe ways of exploring career options, 2) Identify sources of information and support to assist them in their education and career planning, and 3) Explain the importance  of developing employability skills.  Through job shadowing the community is able to play a part in the career development of Grade 9 students.  The primary objective of Take Our Kids to Work is linking classroom learning with the community and giving students new insights into a parent's occupation and providing for the family.  By the end of this week students will receive a package (see attachment) that includes a parent notification form that will need to be returned back to the school by Friday October 27th.  For further information, visit http://www.thelearningpartnership.ca/what-we-do/student-programs/take-ou...
